That's it. The new mascot for kids meals. How many nightmares will that cause? Already, some are calling it the "McScary" meal on social media. One pundit called it the meal that eats you! To be fair, it is kinda creepy looking. To me, it almost looks like the oven from a stove waiting to gobble up anyone who gets close to it. Either that, or a rejected Monty Python cartoon.
I have no idea what the advertising boffins were thinking of, but if I was a kid, I'd be begging my folks not to give me "The Box". I guess it goes along with the new look Ronald McDonald:
Who looks for all the world like a creepy used car salesman. Just 2 more reasons why I'll never darken the door of a Rotten Ronnies. I'm just wondering now how many other people who've had their kids damn near shit their pants when they see the mascot (or at least start screaming) will feel the same.

I Bet The Lawyers Fees And Commission Would Be High...If He Can Get One
It seems some guy in the States is suing almost everyone and everything in New York City. And not for a paltry million or so. Not even for a billion. Nope. Seems our friend is going for the whole enchilada, and is asking for 2 undecillion dollars. That's 2 with 36 zeroes after it. That's a spicy meatball!
But why? What set this idiot off? Well, it seems he's pissed off with the transit system, an airport, several stores, a couple of hospitals, a dog owner and 2 "Chinese" people.
The 22 page statement of claim (among other things) alleges he was overcharged for every cup of coffee he bought at La Guardia airport. It also says he was bit by what he claims was a rabid dog on a New York Transit bus.
The hospital and the "Chinese couple" are being sued because the couple took "unauthorized" photos of him while he was waiting for treatment.
Now, I'm no lawyer, but I'm thinking buddy's suit will be thrown out, and he'll be assessed costs. As for getting legal representation, I'm thinking he's going to end up representing himself, 'cause there's no lawyer stupid enough to take the case on.
And I'm not naming the guy. He fucking well might sue ME for a couple hundred billion!

Putain de merde!
I'm saying "Holy shit!" in French for a couple reasons. One to bluntly state the obvious: I have not been paying proper attention to this blog recently. And second: Putain de merde! France a battu le Canada au hockey!
It's sad, but true. France did beat Canada 3-2 in a shootout at the men's world hockey championships today. France! A team we've beaten at hockey 16-3 in the last 2 meetings. And have an 8-1 record against them, losing only once before in 1995. Almost 20 fucking years ago!
Ah, well. It's just the 1st game in the round robin, and if we were to lose, I'd sooner have it happen at the start of the tournament, rather than the end. But still, France!?
Time to pull your fingers out, boys.

I'm Sorry. We're You Talking To Me?
So, the cast for the latest in the Star Wars trilogy has been announced. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and 3 others from the 'original' series are coming back for number 7. And they'll joined by (among others) Andy (better known as Gollum) Serkis and Max von Sydow.
And I for one could care less. This latest of what's now become a never ending series of Star Bores films is set some 35 years after Return of the Jedi. Just what the 'plot' of this is going to be, no one has said. But from the age of some of the cast members it might just be on the planet Alzheimer in the galaxy of Dementia. And the light sabres will now closely resemble walkers. Or canes.
I will freely admit I did see the first Star Wars movie when it came out. I even went to the 2nd one, which I walked out of about half-way through. As for the 3rd.....forget it. And the subsequent "prequels". Not a chance in hell.
I know I'm in the minority on this one, but isn't it time George Lucas called a halt to the whole thing? I mean, does he really need any more money? Of course, with Disney doing a live action film, there's a chance it could be another turkey. Something like John Carter of Mars.
One thing's certain; I will NOT be wasting my money on the 7th part of the 'trilogy'.

WTF Is Going On?
Seriously. What the fuck is going on with people stabbing other people in Western Canada anyway? Earlier this week, we hear of 5 people stabbed to death at a house party to end the academic year at a university in Calgary. Cops there say two things: 1): It's the deadliest mass murder in that city. Ever. And 2): It was the son of a high ranking cop that may have been the man wielding the knife. Which was (apparently) taken from a drawer in the kitchen of the home several other students were renting.
Then the next day, a 15 year old stabbed 4 people at random in a mall in downtown Regina. According to what I've heard, it was a gang initiation thing. Luckily, the 4 people hurt there will live. And once the youth serves his "slap on the wrist" sentence, I'm sure he'll be granted full status in whatever gang it was. And if THAT's not bad enough, there was another stabbing in Ontario, just to round things out
As bad as these incidents are, just think of the carnage that would have happened if the assholes had guns?
And I'm almost sure someone out there is going to start screaming about knife control of some measure. Maybe put metal detectors at all public venues. Which simply won't work. And if I had the answer to the problem, I'd be the first yelling and screaming about it from the highest rooftop in Canada.
And while this won't solve the problem or bring the people killed back to life, I still think it's time we had a long, hard look at the punishment part of our justice system. The guy in Calgary has been charged with 1st degree murder times 5. In any case where someone has died due to deliberate actions, I believe the death penalty should be applied. The youth in Regina was charged with aggravated assault times 4. If there is a gang connection, he that should be upgraded to attempted murder. And the punishment should be 10 years in jail. Each. Served consecutively, not concurrently. With nothing taken off due to time served waiting for trial.

Give Me One, Or At Least The Cash Equivalent
That's a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. It's worth as close to 2 million dollars as makes no difference. And guess who was GIVEN one. Yup! Justin Fucking Bieber. The V-16, 1001 horsepower, quad turbo powered car has been clocked at over 260 MILES an hour. And Beebs has been given one by his producer.
You'd think with his history with supercars, the best that little piss wart should ever get is a Toyota Camray. No offense meant to Toyota. I'm almost willing to start taking bets on how long it takes him to rack up several speeding tickets.
I just hope he doesn't wreck the thing. It is, after all, a piece of automotive technological perfection. Not that I give a crap about Beiber Shit. The tires alone are 50 thousand bucks per set.
And before you start saying ol' Ratbag is just bitching 'cause he can't get one and no one would give him one, don't. I've managed quite well in more than 40 years of driving without a Bugatti. I think I can manage the remaining years just fine without as well.
